Launch-Me | Begin Your Rocketry Journey Today

Launch-Me is your one-stop portal to get involved in the exciting, safe and educational world of rocketry in the UK.

Developed with funding from the UK Space Agency, the Launch-Me site will guide your journey into practical rocketry, whoever you are and whatever your level of expertise.

Rocketry is one of the most exciting educational tools available for those looking to inspire an interest in space and STEM subjects.

It is possible for young people in the UK to engage in rocketry at levels from kit-built model rockets that can be built at home or in a classroom in a matter of minutes through to large scale research and amateur rocketry where student teams build their own liquid fuelled rocket engines and launch massive rockets to the edge of space. Practical rocketry and the numerous competitions available to young people in the field can be a launch-pad for a career in the space sector, aerospace engineering and many other exciting fields. Where will rocketry take you?

Getting Started

There is a LOT of information available online about rockets, and the point of this site is to distil that information down, focussing on advice relevant to the UK, and give you EXACTLY what you need as you begin your rocketry journey. We have done this by designing the site to follow three ‘narratives’ for three different levels of interest and complexity. To begin your journey, chose which of these narratives is the best fit for what you want to get out of rocketry.

  • Individual Model Rocketeer

Claire is 11 and has just started Year 7. She is very keen to get involved in model rocketry and possibly enter a rocketry competition like the ‘Launch Me Challenge’ but there is no rocketry team at Claire’s school. Her father, David, is keen to help her safely take part in hobby rocketry, but neither Claire or David have ever built or flown a rocket before.

  • Group Rocketry Educator

Arya is a teacher wishing to introduce her class of 30 Year 9 students to rockets in a competition setting, such as UKROC. They are keen to build and fly a mid-power rocket as a group and achieve good performance from their rocket.

  • University Rocket Team

Gareth is looking to set up a competitive rocketry team at his university. He has a little knowledge of model rocketry but he and his friends want to enter an advanced rocketry competition like MACH or EUROC next year and are seeking practical advice on more advanced rocketry.
